A Little Princess follows the story of Sara Crewe, who is left in boarding school by her widowed father, Captain Crewe, whom Sara loves very much. When her father reportedly dies, the cruel headmistress makes Sara the school servant and banishes her to sleep in the freezing attic. A neighboring Nanny (and her playful cat), take pity on Sara, bringing her gifts of food and warmth. When Sara visits her neighbors to thank them the Nanny - on Sara's insistence sensing her father did not die - writes a telegram to send around the globe. Sara's father is found in a hospital suffering from amnesia, when he returns to see his daughter his memory comes flooding back to him and they are reunited.
